art therapy can help

What is art therapy?

Art therapy is when a credentialed Art Therapist facilitates client(s) in the use of:

  • visual arts (exploration of materials and the image(s) produced)

  • the creative process (the act of creating itself)

  • verbal expression (talk therapy methods)

within the therapeutic relationship, to work towards individual and/or group goals.

The art acts as a 3rd element of the session to contain, explore and re-imagine emotions and events.

All sessions are protected by an informed consent contract reviewed and signed by client and therapist (and additional signer if legally obliged) and is bound by client protected confidentiality

Is art therapy for me?

We all create and experience art differently, and uniquely.

I am not an Art Teacher. I am an Art Therapist

BUT I do have experience with a vast variety of art media that I look forward to exploring (and learning more about) with you.

There is no such thing as GOOD or BAD ART in Art Therapy.

There are lines, forms, movement and expression.

Sometimes it can be messy, or precise, planned or spontaneous

Only YOU know what YOUR art really means

I will not analyze your artwork, but instead be a non-judgemental witness to your creative process and inquire and be open to explore what it means for and with you.

You are not too (
fill in the blank) to do Art Therapy

All identities, abilities, cognitive capacities, ages, genders, sexualities, races and religions are welcome.

I specialize with teens, older adults, neurodivercity, multicapabilities, LGBTQIA+, gender creative, and everyone in between

“Types” of art therapy I practice

I practice along a spectrum of the 3 types listed below based on individual needs.

I incorporate the tools from each type of therapy into my practice.

Art Therapy

“Traditional” therapy environment, with the addition of the art to mediate the process. The making and product of the art are used to address clinical needs.

Art as Therapy

The art is used as a therapeutic tool and a connecting point for participants and therapist to learn and grow through the practice of creating art.

Street Art Therapy

A group art therapy approach I developed in my master’s research that provides a contained, non-threatening environment for participants to work together in a visual dialogue with their shared community, by creating art in the streets. The art works can include graffiti and mural elements, while expanding the diversity of techniques, materials, and space
